GENERAL QUESTIONS |

Q.
How Much does it cost to join the Western R/C Flyers?
A. Just $35.00 Annually due February 1st, the lowest cost club in the area.
Q. Are there any hidden costs?
A. No, unlike other clubs you do not have field permits to pay for in addition to the club dues. We maintain 2-flying sites, and the only thing you will ever be required to pay is the annual membership fee of
$35.00
Q.
Do I have to be a member of the AMA (Academy of Model Aeronautics)?
A. Yes, since we are a AMA chartered club we require all members to hold a current AMA card (membership).
Q.
How can you maintain 2 fields and charge only $35.00 a year?
A. We hold an annual R/C auction usually in April. Most of the club's funding comes from this
activity. We rely upon our members to volunteer and help with our auction since it is our
main source of income.
Q.
A $35.00 membership allows me to fly at both fields?
A. Yes
Q.
Where are the flying fields located?
A. Our Springfield flying site is located approximately 1 mile west of Springfield Nebraska, just minutes from the Millard area, south on highway 50. Our Mead flying site is located approximately 3.5 miles south of Mead Nebraska and Highway 92, just minutes from west Omaha.
Q.
Which field or fields are used for events?
A. Our Mead site is primarily used for our fun fly events throughout the summer months. The primary reason is we simply have more parking and are not limited to specific flying hours. We do although, use our Springfield site for our Tuesday night
fun-flys and summer meeting place.
Q.
Are the flying fields grass or paved?
A. They are very low cut well maintained grass runways, very suitable from 2 inch wheels on up.
Q.
I am interested in joining your club, but would like to try flying at one or both of your fields, are there any restrictions?
A. Yes, since we are an AMA chartered club, you will be required to hold a current AMA license. Also we ask that you be accompanied by a Western R/C Flyer member during your visit. The perfect time to visit is during one of our Tuesday night fun flys at Springfield, we usually have several members in attendance and we always enjoy and welcome a new pilot. If your schedule requires something different, contact any person on our club contacts page and we would be happy to get together with you.
Q.
I am interested in joining along with my son, is there a break in membership fees, or do your have a family membership available?
A. No, at this time we do not and you would require 2 memberships. We have discussed this issue and it is possible that in the future this may change.
Q.
I am an R/C pilot, my wife and kids would like to come with me to the field, is it possible for spectators to come?
A. Absolutely, we welcome all spectators, we maintain unisex
porta-pots at both fields during the flying season. We recommend that spectators bring their own chairs, since the seating is very limited at both fields. Spectators are required to stay behind the pit areas a safe distance from the activities.
